There are many different types of nonprofit organizations, but only 501(c)(3) federally tax-exempt nonprofits qualify for ANI membership. A 501(c)(3) organization provides charitable, religious, scientific, literary, or educational services to the public, and is an organization which qualifies for tax-deductible donations. Some examples include Community Theaters, Animal Shelters, Volunteer Centers, Group Homes, Art Programs, Library Associations, Meals on Wheels, United Way, Goodwill, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Charter Schools. See more examples here. Remember, 501(c)(3) nonprofits are the only type ANI may insure. For a more exhaustive listing of 501(c)(3) nonprofits, check out Guidestar.
